Day One & Two
Carrier Ethernet Global Interconnect Test Program and Showcase
London, April 12 -13, 2010
Phase 2
EANTC, partnered with European telehouse ancotel, finished the second phase in a new test program for service providers. The program allows participating network operators to validate and showcase end-to-end Carrier Ethernet services across multiple carriers using External Network-Network Interfaces (ENNI) as specified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). The results of this phase have been presented at Light Reading's Ethernet Europe conference in London on April 12 and 13. In this latest phase, EANTC validated MEF ENNI and Class of Service (CoS) mapping across a test setup which included 8 participating operators and 7 European cities from London all the way to Sevastopol.
The campaign kicked off with a closed doors pilot evaluation in January 2010. EANTC, together with participating service providers, developed a comprehensive plan for the tests and demonstrations. Results of the pilot test phase were publicly demonstrated live at Ethernet Wholesale Summit 2010 in Paris, February 9-12, 2010 and reported in an independent test report published by Light Reading.
The following service providers participated in the second phase of the event: Belgacom International Carrier Services (BICS), Equinix, Expereo, Level 3, P&T Luxembourg, Teragate, Tinet and Ucomline.
The tests were sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent, MRV Communications and Spirent Communications.
