Carrier Ethernet Global Interconnect Test Program and Showcase

Paris, February 10 -12, 2010
Phase 1

EANTC, partnered with European telehouse ancotel, announced a new test program for service providers to validate and showcase end-to-end Carrier Ethernet services across multiple carriers using External Network-Network Interfaces (ENNI) as specified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). Service providers had the chance to register for the pilot test campaign until December 4, 2009.

Service providers worldwide are challenged to offer functionally advanced, manageable and scalable Carrier Ethernet services with a global footprint. In the course of the test program throughout 2010 and 2011, EANTC will focus on validating advanced Carrier Ethernet interconnects by evaluating functionality, resilience, as well as SLA support. The goal is to accelerate wide deployment of interconnections by testing against a common standard.

The campaign kicked off with a closed doors pilot evaluation in January 2010. EANTC, together with participating service providers, developed a comprehensive plan for the tests and demonstrations. Results of the pilot test campaign has been publicly demonstrated live at MPLS and Ethernet World Congress / Ethernet Wholesale Conference 2010 in Paris, February 9-12, 2010 and reported in an independent test report published by Light Reading. As with previous white papers which have come to be considered pioneering documents in the telecommunications industry, these publications provide much-needed assessments of the state of the art of service provider interconnects today.
