The O-RANALLIANCE Global PlugFest Fall 2024 is successfully concluded at the end of November! All testing occurred on-site in Berlin at the i14y Lab or remotely over nearly a month, from October 7th to November 15th.
During the event, participating vendors had the opportunity to validate the technical readiness of their individual solutions, explore multi-vendor interoperability in new or refined test scenarios, and prepare test results for public reporting. The tests were based on O-RAN Alliance specifications and TIP test plans customized for the session. Technical priorities provided by the OpenRAN MoU Group of European service providers were also considered.
PlugFest themes:
- O-RAN Energy Consumption, Efficiency, and Savings Testing
- O-RAN E2E Automated Testing
High-level scope:
- Verification of Near-RT RIC xApps/Non-RT RIC rAppswith standalone RAN emulated or real scenarios
- Performance and functional testing of multi-vendor O-RAN-based, optionally including Near-RT/Non-RT RIC with xApps/rApps
- Validation and demonstration of all O-RAN architecture components
Test results:

Two O-RU conformance tests
-
Six end-to-end scenarios with O-RU/O-DU/O-CU,

As part of the PlugFest’s social events this year, a networking and community event took place at the i14lab on October 23rd and 24th. Participants, both in person and joining remotely, were encouraged to openly discuss their thoughts on the state of open RAN, the purpose of PlugFest and the future for its development of their industry collaborations.
More information is available in the O-RAN Alliance press release. We are excited about the testing next year and look forward to reconnecting and collaborating again with all the participants!
