Showcase at the Upperside World Congress in Paris

At this yearโ€™s Upperside World Congressย in Paris, EANTC presented 12 live interoperability demonstrations from March 24 to 26, 2026, developed in collaboration with the 12 participating vendors, highlighting key advancements in networking technologies. Developed through extensive testing, these demos validated practical,ย  real-world scenarios and reflected innovation across a diverse ecosystem.

ย Below you can find all demo videos and gain insights into the innovative solutions presented during the event.

In this demo, Arista, Cisco, HPE, Keysight, and ZTE demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario highlights a digital twin approach in which a live network is replicated in real time to reflect its topology, configuration, and operational data, enabling accurate modeling across a multi-vendor environment.

The demo shows how operators can simulate planned changes, such as adding nodes and Layer 3 links directly in the digital twin, and evaluate their impact before deployment. Independent topology-discovery runs using different controllers produced consistent results, and the simulated changes closely matched the behavior observed after implementation in the physical network, demonstrating a reliable method for safer planning and validation.

The speakers in this demo include:

โ–ช๏ธJulia Palomino (Cisco)

โ–ช๏ธMalake Abidar (Keysight)

In this demo, Cisco, Keysight, and Nokia demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario addresses a key challenge in L3VPN multi-homing, where Layer 2 hashing on the CE can cause ARP and IPv6 Neighbor Discovery responses to be learned by only one service PE, leading to inconsistent forwarding behavior in an active-active environment. The demo showcases how EVPN-based ARP and ND synchronization using MAC/IP Advertisement routes ensures that both PEs maintain a consistent view of CE adjacencies. In the tested setup, a CE connected via a LAG to two PEs operating in all-active mode successfully maintained uninterrupted traffic flow. Even when one access link was disabled, traffic seamlessly switched to the redundant path without packet loss, validating reliable and resilient forwarding in multi-vendor SRv6 L3VPN deployments.

The speakers in this demo include:

In this demo, Cisco, Keysight, and Nokia demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario focuses on EVPN Group Policy as a mechanism for enabling micro- and macro-segmentation within VXLAN fabrics by assigning Group Policy IDs to endpoints and controlling traffic flows based on defined policies.

The demo validates how group-based policies enforce selective communication between tenant systems across a multi-vendor environment. In the test setup, only specific bidirectional traffic flows were permitted between designated tenant pairs, while all other traffic was blocked. Measurement results confirmed that communication occurred exclusively between allowed endpoints, demonstrating precise policy enforcement and effective network segmentation.

The speakers in this demo include:

โ–ช๏ธHamam Takkey (Nokia)

In this demo, HPE, Keysight, and Nokia demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario focuses on Bit Indexed Explicit Replication (BIER) as an efficient multicast transport mechanism that eliminates the need for per-flow state in transit nodes, supporting scalable delivery for IPTV and VPN multicast services.

The demo validates basic BIER forwarding as well as IPMSI tunnel establishment across multiple test rounds with different role assignments. Devices from HPE, Nokia, and Keysight operated as BFIR, BFER, and transit nodes, successfully demonstrating multicast encapsulation, forwarding, and decapsulation across the BIER domain. Multicast traffic was consistently delivered to intended receivers, confirming correct functionality and interoperability across vendors in diverse deployment scenarios.

In this demo, Arista, Calnex, Ciena, Cisco, Ericsson, HPE, Keysight, Microchip, Nokia, Raisecom, and ZTE demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario focuses on controller-driven orchestration and assurance in a 5G xHaul transport network, enabling automated service provisioning and real-time performance monitoring across multi-domain environments. The demo showcases how Segment Routing domains with SRv6 and SR-MPLS interworking can be orchestrated end-to-end, including L3VPN service deployment via controller-based automation. In parallel, proactive OAM mechanisms such as TWAMP and telemetry streaming via gNMI were used to continuously monitor service health and performance. The results demonstrate how centralized control and assurance tools enable efficient service lifecycle management, improve visibility, and ensure reliable operation in complex 5G transport networks.ย

In this demo, “5G xHaul – Time Synchronization as part of 5G xHaul Path Provisioning and Optimization”, Arista, Calnex, Ciena, Cisco, Ericsson, HPE, Keysight, Microchip, Nokia, Raisecom, and ZTE demonstrate the results of the EANTC Transport & Cloud Networks Interop Test 2026, presented at the Upperside World Congress. The scenario focuses on precise time synchronization in 5G xHaul networks, a critical requirement for coordinating radio elements and ensuring service quality under strict latency and phase accuracy constraints. The demo validates end-to-end synchronization using SyncE and PTP with full timing support across a dual-domain Segment Routing network with SRv6 to SR-MPLS interworking. Even under heavy congestion with mixed best-effort traffic, priority mechanisms ensured stable delivery of time-sensitive traffic such as PTP and eCPRI. Measurement results confirmed that the time error remained within the defined limits, with no packet loss or degradation of high-priority traffic, demonstrating robust, reliable synchronization performance in a realistic multi-vendor 5G transport environment.ย

The demo validates the operation of PIM/EVPN Gateways (PEG) as defined in RFC 9625, including IGMPv3 join processing, EVPN SMET synchronization, and consistent Designated Router election across gateways. Multicast traffic was successfully delivered bidirectionally using ingress replication without loss or duplication, while compatibility mechanisms ensured correct fallback behavior for non-OISM-capable devices, confirming robust multicast interworking across EVPN and PIM domains.

The demo showcases how an EVPN ELAN service was provisioned via controller-based automation and validated through MAC learning across all nodes. Proactive OAM mechanisms, including CFM with continuity, delay, and loss measurements, were used to monitor service health in real time. Telemetry collection enabled end-to-end visibility of performance metrics, demonstrating how operators can detect and address service degradation early, ensuring reliable and high-quality network services.

The scenario focuses on EVPN ELAN multihoming over an SRv6 data plane, validating interoperable split-horizon loop prevention in an all-active multi-homing environment across a broad multi-vendor setup.

The demo confirms that loop prevention is achieved using the SRv6 SID Argument, where ingress PEs encode Ethernet Segment information and egress PEs apply filtering based on this value to prevent BUM traffic loops. Both transposition and non-transposition encoding approaches were successfully validated using EVPN Route Type 1, demonstrating consistent SRv6 SID argument signaling and highlighting increased maturity and interoperability of this mechanism across vendors.
